"And I'm like, We are fantasies? Our guys just want to sing and dance on the roads. Our guys just want to drive a big car. Our guys just want to come to America. You know, we don't want to go to Pandora. America is our Pandora."

The Art of NOT buying things.
We all know how to buy things.
Holiday season or "Shopping Season" was just around the corner. I was very excited to see retailers competing amongst themselves and cutting prices left and right and also in the middle if it suits them to make us buy things that we think that we need.
My house is still filled with Ad leaflets and coupon papers from WalMart, Target, Meijer and even some online retailers like, Dell, CompUSA etc as if their online ad flashing on every website we visit is not enough. I know you are thinking I should clean my house, but that aside, we don't need to know how to buyo things, we are well trained on how to do that since our childhood. We are induced consciously and subconsciously to buy things that we need or dont need.
Today I would like to present my thoughts about how NOT to buy things.
First step is to make a list of all the thing that you are going to buy.
Next step is to divide that list into 2.
1. Things that you need and
2. Things that you want.
Let me explain "Things that you need". These are things that you need for survival, the bare necessities of life. For example, if I am grocery shopping, I make a list of the things that I need to buy and buy just that. And if there is something I find on a great deal, I ask myself "Do I really need this now?" and answer that question with a simple Yes/No.
"Things that you want", these are thing that I don't have a need for, but it would be nice to have them, for example, I would certainly like to have a New bottle of Wine to have with my dinner tonight, but I can eat my dinner without it. I just don't have to buy it.
Here are other things I do to keep myself from Not buying.
1. If I want it and not sure if I need it, I would put it in my cart and right before I go to check out I will put it away.
2. When I get paper ads in my mail box, I take my time to look at it and then promptly throw it away.
3. When things are broke, like my printer would not print Black color at all, I was in the verge of buying a new one, untill the time I googled up the the issue I had with my printer and soon enough I found a solution for my printer which made me Not to buy a new one.
The point being, if things are broken, google it for a solution, trust me, you ain't the first guy in the world to have gone thru any situation.
4. I don't buy any movies, I use www.redbox.com vending machines to watch all my movies.
5. I don't buy any music online or off a shelf, but I listen to all the songs that I like on www.pandora.com. This site lets me listen to the kinds of music I like and not buy a whole album for just a couple of songs.
6. If I need something like a grass edger the first place I go to these days is craigslist.org's classified for Free items people are giving away and it is in your city.
Well, these are a few things I do to keep myself from spending any more money than I need to spend.
Always remember one question before you buy anything, "Do I really need this?".
Good luck not buying things.

Here are the 9 Things I Should Do Instead of Buying Stocks
I got this page from the dilbert.com blog. I plan to do this pretty soon. Sadly I have only 2 thing done, ie.,
Pay off my CCs
Buy a House.
Hope fully god willing I should be done with this by the end of next month.
9 Things You Should Do Instead of Buying Stocks:
- Make a will.
- Pay off your credit cards.
- Get term life insurance if you have a family to support.
- Fund your 401(k) to the maximum.
- Fund your IRA to the maximum.
- Buy a house if you want to live in a house and can afford it.
- Put six months' worth of expenses in a money market account.
- Take whatever money is left over and invest 70% in a stock index fund and 30% in a bond fund through any discount broker, and never touch it until retirement.
- If any of this confuses you, or if you have something special going on (retirement, college planning, tax issues), hire a fee-based financial planner.
Hope this help you to find out what is to be a priority when you look ahead at the official Financial Depression.
